Baptist Health Federal Credit Union Hosts Holiday Food Drive for Baptist Health College’s Food Pantry
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Baptist Health Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) hosted a holiday food drive throughout the month of November for Baptist Health College Little Rock’s food pantry. Generous donors gave non perishable food and hygiene items, and monetary donations. With over 100 items donated, the food pantry was fully stocked to provide for students over the holiday break.
“These donations give hope to our students. They remove the distraction of hunger so our students can care for themselves, their families and focus on their education,” said Dr. Lindsey Gates, faculty sponsor for the food pantry. “We are grateful for the support of the BHFCU and their donors. They are truly paving the way for future health care professionals.”
A can of soup or a new bottle of body wash is more than just a donation. These items ensure students across campus experience no barriers while pursuing their career in health care. They can continue their education and provide for their families without the extra stress of buying groceries for the week.
“The true meaning of the holiday season is to give back. For some, this time of year is stressful. BHFCU wants to ensure that no one goes hungry or without essential items that you need every day,” said Michele Carroll, assistant vice president of operations at BHFCU. “It is hard to go to school, have a career and be a parent. We are honored to partner with the college to meet the basic needs of students so they can continue their education without extra stress. The generosity of our members was overwhelming and very much appreciated.”
