Baptist Health College Little Rock Graduates Largest Class Since 2016

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Baptist Health College Little Rock (BHCLR) hosted its Spring Commencement on Saturday, June 14, at Barton Coliseum. This spring, 238 graduates crossed the stage from nine programs of study: Medical Laboratory Science; Nuclear Medicine Technology; Nursing- Traditional; Occupational Therapy Assistant; Patient Care Technician; Practical Nursing; Radiography; Sleep Technology and Surgical Technology. This graduating class was the largest since 2016.

The commencement address was given by Demond White, BSN, RN, BHCLR nursing alumnus and now adjunct faculty. The introduction of classes and announcement of awards was by Dr. Karen James, PhD, OTR/L, CAPS, CLA, interim president, and Dr. Susan Brock, DNP, RN, associate dean of nursing. Students were presented their diplomas by Greg Crain, president of Baptist Health’s central region.

Dr. James is proud of this spring’s graduating class and their achievements as they enter the health care field.

Our success is a reflection of the dedication of students, faculty and staff. We’ve worked hard to provide strong academic support, hands-on clinical experience and a student-centered environment- while also staying responsive to the evolving needs of the health care field,” Dr. James said.

BHCLR strives to graduate top notch students that go on to be leaders in health care. From each class, about 50 percent of new graduates enter the Baptist Health system and the others go on to serve the state in other roles.

“Ultimately, it’s our students who make the difference. Their resilience, hard work and passion for serving others are what truly drive our success,” James said.
