Holiday Gift Guide for Students: Practical & Meaningful Ideas
It is officially the holiday season and that means it is time to start shopping for your loved ones. Your student is most likely wrapping up their semester and busy studying for finals, so they probably don’t have time to make their Christmas list. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! We’ve curated a holiday gift guide for your student. From scrubs, stethoscopes, to self-care items, you can leave the holiday gift ideas to us.
1. Scrubs
As a future health care professional, your student can never go wrong with a new pair of scrubs. Many of our students love the brand FIGS. With a variety of scrub tops, pants, sizes and colors, there are lots of options to choose from. If you are looking to buy a new pair for them to wear to school, make sure you know what color they need as each program at Baptist Health College Little Rock has a specific color!
2. Water Bottle
Looking for a stocking stuffer? A water bottle would be a good addition to your student’s stocking because they often go missing or get worn out throughout the school year. A few options include a Stanley, Owala or Hydro Flask. If your student already owns a Stanley cup, another stocking stuffer idea is silicone straw covers. These go on top of the straws to protect them from germs – very important in a hospital or school setting!
3. Comfortable pair of sneakers
Our students spend a lot of time on their feet. To prevent them from having body aches and pains, a good pair of sneakers with support is important – especially when they are in clinical. Popular sneaker brands include Hoka, New Balance and Brooks Running Shoes. Investing in a good pair of sneakers can make all the difference in their long hours at the hospital.
4. Lip Balm and Hand Lotion
Students can never go wrong with lip balm and hand lotion to keep in their backpack or pockets. We recommend purchasing a size that students can easily slip into their pockets while at school or in clinical. For lip balm recommendations, some options include e.l.f. Squeeze Me, ChapStick, rhode peptide lip treatment or LANEIGE Lip Glowy Balm. For hand lotion, L’OCCITANE, CeraVe or Kiehl’s.
5. Vest or Jacket
A vest or jacket is perfect for your student to wear during the chilly winter months in the hospital or school. For a personal touch, consider embroidering the vest or jacket with your student’s name on it. This will prevent it from getting stolen or picked up by the wrong peer or co-worker. For vests, a few ideas include a Patagonia Retro Pile Fleece Vest or FIGS On-Shift Sweater Vest. For Jackets, Columbia Steens Mountain, 90 Degree by Reflex or lululemon Define Jacket.
6. Stethoscope
Not every program requires a stethoscope, but for the ones that do, a stethoscope can be a very meaningful gift. Although expensive, your student will be using this every day in their job as a nurse. A couple brands include Littmann and MDF. This would be a great gift for a student that is about to graduate!
7. Badge Reels
Badge reels are a fun addition to your student’s uniform as they come in different colors and patterns. You could buy them seasonal badge reels so they can wear them during the holidays. Etsy has tons of stores with badge reels made by crafters. We recommend CraftsNcreations Plus, TheRuffled Pig and NewDesignsStudio.
8. Belt Bag
Belt bags are the perfect bag for your student. The bag can go around their chest or waist. With pockets and compartments, students can put all their supplies in it that they’ll need while caring for patients. With several price points and colors, we suggest the jealkip Fanny Pack and the lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag 1L.
9. Hand Massager
Your student is sure to love this practical gift! This is a great way for students to treat themselves after a long day in the classroom or at clinical. The hand massager is portable, so they can take it on the go. You can find it on Amazon for $55.
10. Gift Cards
If you are still stumped about a gift, gift cards are always the way to go. This could be to your student’s favorite store, restaurant, fast food or coffee stop. You can pick gift cards up at convenient stores like Dollar General or Walgreens.
Happy shopping and Merry Christmas!
