Student Profile: Madison Wyatt

We’ve all been told “never judge a book by its cover.” This typically means we must take the time to look inside the book, read the words on the page, and engage with the contents so that we will know what it is really all about. This advice is definitely true of Madison Wyatt, a graduating senior from Baptist Health College Little Rock’s School of Radiography.

At first glance, Madison appears quiet, reserved, and shy. In actuality, she is quite talkative, extroverted, and easy to carry on a conversation. From just looking at her, one would never know she was interested enough in the functions of the human body to be a student trainer for Southside High School in Fort Smith.

Madison might have seemed out of place on the sidelines of a football field with 50 to 60 teenage boys and coaches.  She might have looked like she could be “squashed like a bug” if she was at the wrong spot when a sideline tackle was made. However, after four years of learning her role, she was entrusted to be the lead student trainer and make decisions in the best interest of the players.

When first getting to know Madison, she may come across as insecure in new situations. However, new situations actually energize her. Starting college was a new experience that some students fear. Not Madison. She left her home, parents, and brother in Fort Smith and moved to Conway by herself. She quickly made friends and got into her course of study. As a freshman in college, Madison realized there were things she didn’t know that maybe she should have. So, she dove into her studies, as best she could during the pandemic, and learned all she could about health and wellness and the structure and function of the human body. It was totally fascinating to her and gave her a solid foundation for a secure future in her profession.

All that Madison has experienced has given her a strong mind to finish well and make a smooth transition into her position at the Cath Lab at BHMC-Conway. If you ever have to have some care at BHMC-Conway, while you are waiting, be sure to pick up the book titled “The Life and Times of Madison Wyatt.” You’ll find it engaging, interesting, and an easy read.
