Four Summer Activities in Central Arkansas

Summer is heating up across Arkansas. School is out, the days are longer, the humidity has returned and lightning bugs hop across the Arkansas night sky. The new season brings time to explore Central Arkansas. Add these four activities to your summer bucket list and make the most of the Natural State.

1. Visit the Little Rock Zoo.

A perfect family-friendly activity – especially if you have small children. Stroll through the exhibits and see animals such as penguins, lions and elephants, to name a few. You can also get aboard the Arkansas Diamond Express Train and cruise around the grounds by locomotive. Be sure to see the new exhibit, Dragon Kingdom, and learn the similarities between the natural world and mythical creatures. To plan your trip, visit https://www.littlerockzoo.com/

2. Try a new restaurant.

Take the opportunity this summer to branch out and try a restaurant you’ve never been to! If you want to try a new restaurant and love breakfast, try the Buttered Biscuit located in the Promenade at Chenal. Fresh and homemade biscuits are served daily, and are sure to please anyone in your crowd. Other must try restaurants to add to your list include Camp Taco, Blackberry Market and Three Fold Noodles + Dumpling Co

3. Catch a baseball game at Dickey Stephens Park.

Nothing says summer like a baseball game at Dickey Stephens! Watch the Arkansas Travelers play ball for a fun evening with the entire family. Order tickets online or at the ticket office. Be sure to attend a Friday night game for Firework Fridays. Enjoy music and watch the sky light up with fireworks. Each Friday has a different theme!

4. Visit the Little Rock Farmers Market.

Every Saturday until August, buy your fresh produce and support local farmers at the Little Rock Farmers Market. Located downtown in the River Market, you can stroll the booths and shop for your farm fresh foods for the week. Open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., get the summer fruits and vegetables of the season.
